Italian Version Autumn's Grey Solace è un gruppo musicale statunitense costituito dalla vocalist Erin Welton e dal polistrumentista Scott Ferrell. La loro attività ha inizio nei primi anni 2000. Erin Welton e Scott Ferrell nascono e crescono a St. Augustine, in Florida. Si conoscono poco più che ventenni e decidono di unirsi in un progetto musicale. Nel 2001 raccolgono i loro brani e pubblicano un anno dopo l'album Within the Depts of a Darkened Forest, che segna il debutto ufficiale del duo. Col tempo il duo si fa conoscere anche dal vivo. In un concerto vengono contattati da Sam Rosenthal, il quale li chiama ad entrare nella sua Projekt. Nel 2004 pubblicano il secondo album, il primo per l'etichetta di Brooklyn, intitolato Over the Ocean. Il disco, di matrice dream pop, si caratterizza di un'elettronica in forma pura che evoca dimensioni paradisiache e malinconiche. A nemmeno un anno di distanza, il duo pubblica il disco della consacrazione. Si tratta di Riverine, caratterizzato da un corposo uso di elettronica e da un'estensione più ampia della voce della Welton. Il quarto album è del 2006 e s'intitola Shades of Grey. In questo disco il duo rompe col passato pubblicando un lavoro rock, vicino al gothic e lontano dai precedenti. Le chitarre si fanno pesanti e distorte, mentre la voce della Welton si mantiene su tonalità basse. Dopo questo disco, il gruppo decide di concedersi una pausa. Inoltre scelgono di accantonare la musica gothic, in favore di un ritorno al sound dei primi tre album. Con questi presupposti nasce Ablaze, pubblicato nel 2008 e di stampo rock pop. Passati ormai definitivamente all'ethereal wave, nel 2011 pubblicano Eifelian. L'anno dopo esce Divinian, album intimo ed evocativo, considerato il capolavoro del duo. English Version Autumn's Grey Solace is an ethereal wave and dream pop duo from St. Augustine, Florida. It consists of vocalist Erin Welton and multi-instrumentalist Scott Ferrell. They have released a total of eight albums since 2002. The band began recording their first album, Within the Depths of a Darkened Forest, in 2000, and was released in 2002. Afterwards they continued to record and write new songs, and were signed to Projekt Records in 2004. Later that year they released their second album, Over the Ocean on Projekt Records. In 2005 they released their third album, Riverine and in 2006 released their fourth, Shades of Grey. On May 6, 2008, their fifth album, Ablaze was released. This album received very positive reviews and was advertised on the front page of Projekt Records' website. Their sixth studio album, Eifelian, was released February 8, 2011. Their seventh studio album, Divinian, was released October 2, 2012. Their eighth studio album, Monajjfyllen, was released December 13, 2014. Autumn's Grey Solace contributed to Projekt Records' "Projekt Holiday Single No. 1" in 2004 with the song "Through The Snowy Trees". They also covered the song "Musica Eternal" by Dead Can Dance for the tribute album Summoning of the Muse - A Tribute to Dead Can Dance in 2005. | ||||||

Italian Version Floridiani di St. Augustine, il polistrumentista Scott Ferrell e la cantante Erin Welton danno vita agli Autumn's Grey Solace, una sorta di continuazione di ciò che gli inglesi Cocteau Twins avevano interrotto dopo lo scioglimento. La band torna con un album di canzoni di un livello di fascinazione sempre elevato. Le atmosfere sono rarefatte e impalpabili, che immergono l'ascoltatore in una dimensione eterea, ove galleggia la meravigliosa voce di Erin Welton, sorretta dall'elegante accompagnamento strumentale del polistrumentista Scott Ferrell. I due evitano di apparire sia nei locali piccoli e fumosi, per preservare la seducente voce di Erin sia negli stadi, in cui avrebbero bisogno di un batterista, un tastierista e un bassista. Tra gli episodi sono da ricordare l'opener Shadow, Light, Echo, Meremnnen, Écelic, Unravel, la title track e soprattutto Siscéal, pregne di atmosfere morbide e di un vocalismo virtuoso ed avvolgente; Sanctuary, Halo e Zenith, più solari e ritmate. Halo ricorda nelle linee ritmiche di Violane dei Cocteau Twins dell'ultimo periodo. Gli Autumn's Grey Solace si dimostrano anche questa volta degli esteti, oltre che musicisti: la cura degli aspetti grafici delle copertine è sempre impeccabile. Un album dal sound sempre più magico e sublime, imperdibile per gli appassionati del genere dream pop/shoegaze. The band is back with an album of songs by an ever high level of fascination. The atmospheres are rarefied, impalpable, that immerse the listener in an ethereal dimension, where floats the wonderful voice of Erin Welton, supported by the elegant instrumental accompaniment of multi-instrumentalist Scott Ferrell. The two avoid to appear both in small and smoky locals, to preserve the seductive voice of Erin and in the stadiums, where they would need a drummer, a keyboard player and a bass player. Among the episodes are to remember the opener Shadow, Light, Echo, Meremennen, Écelic, Unravel, the title track and especially Siscéal, pregnant of soft atmospheres and a virtuoso and enveloping vocalism; Sanctuary, Halo and Zenith, sunnier and rhythmic. Halo remembers the rhythmic lines of Violane of the Cocteau Twins of the last period. The Autumn's Grey Solace are proving to be once again aesthetics, as well as musicians: the care of the visual aspects of the covers is always impeccable. An album with sound always more magical and sublime, a must for fans of the genre dream pop/shoegaze. |
